Frontier Airlines today announced new nonstop service between its Denver, Colo. hub and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway in Arizona, with daily nonstop flights beginning on Nov. 15, 2012, becoming the third passenger carrier, joining Allegiant Air and Sprint Airlines also providing service from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway.
The addition of Frontier Airlines will triple the number of destinations reachable from phoenix-Mesa Gateway as Frontier serves more than 80 U.S. Cities as well as Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico.
This should come as welcome news to the developers of the nearby “former GM Desert Proving Grounds” development as well as investment opportunities of the already existing commercial office and industrial buildings available for sale, for lease as well as commercial land for sale in the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway area.
With the addition of a third carrier, business will now be able to look at Gateway as a viable option for getting their employees and vendors in and out of the area.
Gateway has barely been able to keep up with the growth they have been experiencing in the past few years and they expect to serve 1.2 million passengers in 2012.
The terminal will be expanding to 8 gates before the arrival of Frontier in November, immediately followed by construction to bring the terminal to 10 gates.
Airport officials also got approval for renovations to include more ticket counter space and relocation of the security area that will help accommodating the arrival of Frontier.
